I wanted something fancy. Something that really lights up a room. I've already made a pretty awesome hat, and I gave that away as a gift. So now it was time to make something for myself.
So what am I supposed to make? I've spent an embarrassing amount of time looking through the Adafruit Learn guides, and something caught my eyes. The Gemma Firewalker Lite.
I mean, why not? Shoes that light up? I know it's nothing new, but I mean come on, I have got to make these. I did have one problem though, this guide was a little old. Don't get me wrong, Adafruit does a wonderful job of maintaining their learn guides, but I wanted to try out some of their new products. I also wanted to make it my own, can't follow guides forever, can we?
So, this is the result of me trying to update this project and personalize it. I followed most of it, but I added a few extras.
Instead of a GEMMA M0, I used my favorite chip, the RP2040. And in this adorable form factor, I couldn't resist.
I also used an accelerometer instead of a vibration switch, to hopefully get more precise reads
And my favorite addition, a RGB sensor so the shoes can change colors based on what objects you hold them up to.
