Once downloaded, you may use the Espressif serial bootloader utility, esptool.py, to upload the binary file to your board. This is an advanced step that may differ between Espressif microcontroller types.
Before you begin, you must locate the serial port used by your board. Information about finding the serial port is located on this page.
To ensure you are starting fresh, erase the entire flash by running the following command:
esptool.py --port COM4 erase_flash
Flash WipperSnapper Firmware
Once the flash has been completely erased, the WipperSnapper combined binary file can be written to the ESP's flash chip via the
write_flash command. Note that we are using the offset
0x0 during this command since the binary file is a combined binary file containing the memory layout and all binaries:
esptool.py --port COM4 write_flash 0x0 wippersnapper.feather-esp32-v184.108.40.206-beta.61.bin
When this file finishes uploading, press the RESET button on your board and click the "Next Step" button below to get connected.
Full documentation of the commands used by Esptool.py is located here.
