WipperSnapper is a different application from CircuitPython. Because of this, installing WipperSnapper will completely erase the CircuitPython installation and all files on your board.
If you did not install CircuitPython on this board, you may ignore this step and proceed to the next step.
Backup CircuitPython Files
ESP32 boards running CircuitPython use the web workflow to access the board's file system. The CircuitPython web workflow uses mDNS so that connecting to the board can be as simple as using the address circuitpython.local
.
Click the button below to navigate to this URL:
Once connected to your board, you should see the Welcome! page appear in your browser.
If you do not see this screen, follow these instructions to attempt to connect using the board's IP address.
From the Welcome! page, click the file browser link on the Welcome! page to access files and folders.
Out of all these files, Code.py
is the most important file on this drive as it contains your CircuitPython code. From the Welcome page, right-click on code.py
and click "Save link as..."
Save this file to somewhere safe on your computer, like your desktop. You may also back up other files from the ESP32 to your computer using this method (Right-click -> Save link as...).
Once you've backed up the files and resources you want from this board, proceed to the next steps to download and install the WipperSnapper firmware.
